SATURDAY NIGHT

i forgot to tell you all that saturday night the uncle and i went to the city for one of my old friends 50th birthday. she is not married so she threw herself a huge party. i saw her last at 20 or 25 year class reunion. i can't really remember, the days and years seem to all run together now, and what was 10 years ago, only seems like a couple.

anyway! i met her in 7th grade and we also went to lowell together. the rest of our buddies were there, minus 2. it was a great party. the food was good, and the dancing would have been better without all the salsa music. the uncle and i are not fans of salsa music. it was fun to chat over dinner about all our junior and high school memories. there must have been over 150 people there. too many for the uncle, but he was a pretty good sport about it. i got to show off pictures of the fam. all in all, it was a great evening. it was fun to get together with old friends you only see once in a while. i wish we could do it more often, but life just seems to rush by and there seems to be little or no time for things like that. i'll take what i can! now i'm looking forward to easter now and hoping to see some of those folks we only see once a year.

Make up your mind to be happy-even when you don't have money, even when you don't have a clear complexion, even when you don't have the Nobel Prize. We should not underestimate or overlook the power of the Lord's tender mercies. The simpleness, the sweetness, and the constancy of the tender mercies of the Lord will do much to fortify and protect us in the troubled times in which we do now and will yet live. When words cannot provide the solace we need or express the joy we feel, when it is simply futile to attempt to explain that which is unexplainable, when logic and reason cannot yield adequate understanding about the injustices and inequities of life, when mortal experience and evaluation are insufficient to produce a desired outcome, and when it seems that perhaps we are so totally alone, truly we are blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord and made mighty even unto the power of deliverance.(see 1 Ne. 1:20).David A. This was quoted By Elder Neal A. Maxwell on October 10, 1978, and posted on my friend's blog. It rings so true to what is happening now, so I wanted to add it to our blog for the rest of us to ponder.

"Make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions.
