I'M BACK!

i did not realize how long it had been since i last blogged. over a month to be exact, but i'm back with lots to tell.

this past week we celebrated grandma valdez's 80th birthday. had a house full, but had lots of fun too. i made a book for her which i hope i can load unto the blog. it was not here on time for her birthday, but it got here wednesday and it turned out pretty good for my first apple book. she loved it. all the valdez's, except aaron were here. issa and three of the kids came. we missed all those that were not here. thanks to all who made it lots of fun for her.

last month i celebrated my 51st birthday. i was the luckiest woman. i got a new macbook pro, an ipod touch , a new high tech washer and dryer, and a beautiful diamond tennis bracelet to replace the one stolen at the slc airport. i think john was trying to stimulate the economy all on his own. he had saved up lots in order to get me all the things i've been wanting. he is the best. he is really big on surprises. boy! was i ever surprised to get it all at once. i really had a great birthday as you can see. he says i deserved it all and more. isn't he sweet!

nan's 80th birthday is in the works. it will be in sept. . we hope that all the family is around for it. i'm on vacation this week and hope to work on a couple of projects for it. i was going to go hunting, but it is too much work and i have so much to do. lov u all

We should not underestimate or overlook the power of the Lord's tender mercies. The simpleness, the sweetness, and the constancy of the tender mercies of the Lord will do much to fortify and protect us in the troubled times in which we do now and will yet live. When words cannot provide the solace we need or express the joy we feel, when it is simply futile to attempt to explain that which is unexplainable, when logic and reason cannot yield adequate understanding about the injustices and inequities of life, when mortal experience and evaluation are insufficient to produce a desired outcome, and when it seems that perhaps we are so totally alone, truly we are blessed by the tender mercies of the Lord and made mighty even unto the power of deliverance.(see 1 Ne. 1:20).David A. This was quoted By Elder Neal A. Maxwell on October 10, 1978, and posted on my friend's blog. It rings so true to what is happening now, so I wanted to add it to our blog for the rest of us to ponder.

"Make no mistake about it, brothers and sisters, in the months and years ahead, events are likely to require each member to decide whether or not he will follow the First Presidency. Members will find it more difficult to halt longer between two opinions.
President Marion G Romney said many years ago, that he had "never hesitated to follow the counsel of the Authorities of the Church even though it crossed my social, professional or political life".
